Bob has extensive experience as a trial lawyer and concentrates his practice in the areas of civil litigation, corporate law, business law, family law and appellate work, and estate planning. Bob is president, and a director of the firm of Shaines & McEachern, P.A. He has had extensive experience in international law and has represented business clients from France, Switzerland, Italy, and Russia.

He was admitted to the Massachusetts Bar in 1952, the New Hampshire Bar in 1954 and is admitted to practice in the United States District Court for the Districts of New Hampshire and Massachusetts, The Court of Appeals, First Circuit and the U.S. Supreme Court.

Bob is a member of the American Bar Association, The Association of Trial Lawyers of America, the New Hampshire Trial Lawyers Association, and the Rockingham County Trial Lawyers Association. He served as Portsmouth Bar Association President in 1963, Rockingham County Bar Association President in 1972; American Arbitration Association National Panel of Arbitrators, 1965 to 1995; and was New Hampshire Bar Association , Chairman, Pre Paid Legal Services Committee from 1976-1979; Governor at Large from 1976-1979; and Secretary from 1973 to 1975.

Bob's career highlights include Chairman of the New Hampshire State Board of Conciliation and Arbitration, 1957-1980; Mayor of Portsmouth from 1960-1961; Captain, JAG, USAFR from 1953-1963; Trustee, Whittemore School of Business, 1996-1998; Chairman of the Portsmouth Police Commission 1978-1984; and served as President of the Trustees of Strawbery Banke Museum from 1976-1979. He has been active in many charitable organizations throughout his career.

Bob was born in Newburyport, Massachusetts. He attended the University of New Hampshire, and in 1952 graduated, cum laude, with a J.D. from Boston University School of Law.
